For sixteen years, BOLD has grown from a small project into a nationally recognized capacity-building organization — and now, into BOLD Training Institute, a container that more fully holds the depth and direction of the work we have always been doing.
What has never changed is our commitment: to develop leaders and organizers who are rooted within themselves, connected to one another, and building toward the world we all deserve.

BOLD is a catalyst for transformative Black leadership. Through offering training, project incubation, and network cultivation, BOLD supports the infrastructure of deeply impactful, powerful, and coordinated movements.
Among the most profound expressions of what BOLD has built together is the Mawón Center — 105 acres of land in Georgia, dreamed into existence by our first cohort and inspired by a transformative 2018 trip to Haiti.
The Mawón Center is more than a retreat center. It is a homecoming. A place to rest, strategize, and reconnect with our ancestral agrarian roots — so that leaders can emerge fortified, restored, and ready to continue the fight.
It is a dream, fully manifested. And it belongs to all of us.
We hope to see you out there soon.
These are the dedicated individuals driving our mission forward and making an impact every day.

The Mawón Center exists because we believe that the fight for that collective liberation starts by being grounded and intentional. The Mawón Center is available to movement organizations seeking a grounded, intentional space for retreats, strategic planning, and organizational gatherings.
